Hosting a Kitchen tea

I recently had the opportunity to host a kitchen tea for one of my dearest friends.  This might be a daunting task for many but I love planning and hosting and designing the look and feel of the day. My friend is a classy and stylish woman, and the conventional kitchen tea was not an option.  Hopefully this post can help you out a bit when planning that special day.

To start off I looked for some images that reflected my idea of the day also fitting the color scheme.  Pinterest is amazing for this! (I am a pinterest freak)

We are so fortunate in Cape Town to have so many options with regards to venues or restaurants but for this it was SOET bistro that really impressed me! They have such great hosting options and the decor in the venue fitted my idea of the day perfectly!

I love flowers and this day I planned on using the Marsala coloured flowers as per my mood board and the perfect excuse to visit the flower market in Adderley Street.  I found some lovely red roses, marsala chrysanthemums and rock roses.  To make her feel extra special I made a flower crown that she could wear on the day.

With the invite, all ladies attending were asked to send a recipe for the bride that I combined into a extra special recipe book.  We had great fun with the bride guessing who gave which recipe!  SOET provided us with amazing quiche and salad, and a to die for Red Velvet Cheesecake!
