Throughout my life I had the privilege to visit a few pretty awesome places. Some of these were far and exotic, other more close to home and safe. The Tankwa Karoo is one of these places – safe, open, breathtaking and peaceful. The Tankwa Karoo National Park is a Scientific National Park in South Africa. The park lies about 70 km due west of Sutherland near the border of the Northern Cape and Western Cape, in one of the most arid regions of South Africa, with areas receiving less than 100 mm of average annual precipitation.
Not so long ago my family and some very close friends of ours visited the farm Skoorsteenberg in the Tankwa Karoo for a weekend full of rest, peace and quiet, starry skies and precious family time.
Some would say there is not much to do or wonder how the Karoo can be a nice destination for a holiday or weekend break. Look at these pictures below (al taken with my iPhone!) and feel your heart longing to go there and experience the magic that is the Tankwa Karoo.
Skoorsteenberg Farm and Cottages are super comfortably fitted, neat and private. Perfect to explore the Tankwa Karoo from. Give them a visit! You won’t be disappointed!
