In the Boland we are very lucky to have plenty of creative locals selling their goods at markets held on some of the most beautiful wine farms over weekends. Enjoying the sun, nice food, and usually the company of family and friends, all the beautiful surroundings AND sourcing pretty little (or not so little!) things are the recipe for a perfect Saturday!
A few weeks back we enjoyed Lindi’s kitchen tea at Meerendal Estate and were delighted to see the estates’ monthly farmers market also being hosted on the lawn of the restaurant! There were loads of awesome stuff being sold that day but one of the vendors caught our eye: Pete’s Pallet Projects! He makes the most practical, beautiful creations out of pallet wood. I bought a hanging bookshelf from him at a very decent price, while a friend of both Lindi and I bought a few wooden serving platters/place mats as Christmas gifts.
We should support our local creatives and that is why Burst is going to do regular posts featuring inspiring people or projects being locally produced. Starting with Pieter Hoekstra! Contact us for his contact details if you would like to know at which market to find him next!
