As spring is upon us we are reminded of the ever changing world we live in. Nothing ever stays the same. Our hearts change over time. As do our perceptions, our friends and our lifestyles. It is scary and exciting at the same time. The past couple of months I am struggling with who I want to be, how I see my future and my worldly purpose. Not only are we bombarded by new and exciting things to be, to have and do everyday, but we feel unsure about our future. We have to perform, make enough money, be the best and the prettiest, the smartest and the coolest. It is exhausting.
For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and hope. - Jeremiah 29:11
I think we all suffer from some kind of identity crisis. I find myself so fixated on what the world thinks about me, I have to remind myself what I think about me. What He thinks about me.
He gives power to the weak and strength to the powerless.
Even youths will become weak and tired, and young men will fall in exhaustion.
But those who trust in the Lord will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles.
They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint. - Isaiah 40:29-31
We feel the pressure of performing en living up to certain standards everyday - it is OK to get tired and giving into the pressure. But it is not OK to give up. We live in a beautiful world. We have so much. Maybe we should always choose to be excited about the new. Spring represents second chances, new beginnings. Choose to have hope. Choose to have faith. Choose to see the beauty in our world. Yes, it is OK to feel uncertain. To be scared. He gives power to the weak...
With this all in mind, take time to do some spring cleaning.
- Be kind to yourself.
- Forgive. And let go.
- Take control of your daily life and on how you spend your time.
- If you feel something or someone is not good for you - make a change! Or determine how much influence this will have on your life if you do not have the choice or power to make a change.
- Be on the lookout for the beauty in this world. Most people are good. And our world is wonderfully made.
- Learn to laugh at yourself and at life.
