Handy Cafe guide to Lunch in Cape Town

Looking for a new place to Lunch in Cape Town? Working in the Foreshore area? Or coming to town for a quick business meeting and looking for a place to go?  No fear, we are here to help you out!  I scouted out my top 5 picks!

1. Foodlovers Market – Icon Building

This is almost the most obvious place to start at.  Its easy to find, parking is relatively easy and the variety is great!  They have a large selection of food available to dish & combine which is weighed and priced per kg.  Their breakfast buffet is also amazing! But for the more non-banting lunch seeker, you can find pizza sandwiches and yummy desserts.  They do sit down dishes as well as sushi – which b.t.w is half price EVERY day after 3PM!!

PERFECT FOR: Breakfast, Lunch, Grab&Go

Monday – Friday: 7:00 am – 6:30 pm
Saturday: 9:00 am – 3:00 pm

2. Folk Coffee  – 7 Bree Street

Folk Coffee is a hip and happening place on the corner of Bree and Loop street.  Within a week I visited them twice! It has such a nice industrial look an feel to it, and is a great escape for a delicious lunch!  Their site sums it up – “A celebration of coffee, food and people”.  They have a great selection of “different” coffees (including a Lavender Flat White?) so you’ll never get bored of them!

PERFECT FOR: Breakfast, Lunch, After Work Drinks, Grab&Go, Business Meeting

Monday – Wednesday: 7:00 am – 6:00 pm

3.  Lunchworx – Waterkant Street

This is such a gem moving a bit up into the city.  I especially love visiting here in winter, as they have the most delicious soup! The interior is cozy so sit down if you have time, but otherwise they also deliver! Their food is freshly made and they have the option of grabbing some sandwiches or salads from the fridge or ordering some of the daily specials.

4.  Guilios – Riebeeck Street

Oh this place is fabulous! I love their real Italian approach to the food! Guilios replaced the popular My Basaar in Riebeeck Street at the end of last year and has been such a success.  The food is really divine, either ordering from the menu or dishing from the lunch table of the day.  They have the best fresh juices, perfect for a hot day after shopping in the city! (Oh an they have occasional cooking classes!) I just discovered their “Dirty Chai” and oh my gosh – you have to try it!

5. Aniyor- Thibault Square

Keeping the best for last..I have a little bit of a confession to make.  Aniyor can be found in Thibault Square and they seriously have the best Coffee in Cape Town (Origin).  This might partly be that they have the most friendly barista’s Sam and Solomon.  But they really make the coffee with love and you can taste it!

I have an addiction – at least twice a week I need my fix.  But wait there is more! They have a breakfast special where you can get a Pastry (includes these amazing raspberry and dark chocolate muffins) and a coffee for R21! Crazy right!

PERFECT FOR: Breakfast, Lunch, Grab&Go, Business Meeting

Monday to Friday: 7:00 am to 4:00 pm

We really love this place, and it is definitely a burst favorite!

Let us know which are your favorite spots & which we need to add to this list!
